How Rude warps genres including ska, dubstep, reggae and soul into an original sound that has won praise from the likes of Giles Peterson, John Tejada, and Eddy “Temple” Morris.

The album comes after a series of successful EPs that included the songs “Timbo” (over 400,000 views on YouTube), “Indian Girl” (one BBC1 radio host DJ Nihal’s “favourite tracks of 2011″), and “Aggranation” (featured on Giles Peterson’s weekly record swap).

How Rude features collaborations with Tom HIngley of Inspiral Carpets, the late Colin Cooper of Climax Blues Band, and Unsub, NewZealand’s rising dubstep phenom. Fans of Thievery Corporation, Glitch Mob, and Jazzanova will appreciate the seamless blending of genres, while young fans will recognize the influence of dubstep on the album.

Toronto’s dark overlord, Jonah K, presents four tracks of creepy dubstep weirdness, reminiscent of of Beats Antique, Liquid Stranger and Sub Swara.
DRUMS IN THE DEEP takes you on a voyage, down abandoned mines and tunnels, deep into the subterranean world of dubstep where only despair and suffering exist. Methodical and ominous, Jonah’s take on dubstep is cinematic and breathtaking, with subtle
amounts of dark humour. Turn up the bass, turn down the lights and embrace the death of the wobble.

You may remember him as one half of P Dub and the Mystical Vibrator, but this week Nikos Stratakos comes out with his solo project: PHASE MR.

Deep basslines blend with catchy, quirky melodies and house sensibility on the Aphrodite EP. Nikos is know in Greece for his work designing sound for art installations and in film. He’s paired up with pioneer of the Greek underground scene Mikele this year on a few projects including “Mega D” off this release.

We love Nikos for a lot of reasons: he’s great to work with, he has a singing fish in his house, and he loves to adopt dogs that need a good home.

Medicine is the pair’s first release on Thoughtless, and it’s full of strange sounds, creepy vocals, and general all around deepness. If you’ve ever been on a dancefloor at 6am when a track came on that made everybody go ‘what the frizizzle?’ and then walking into the walls and each other like sleepy zombies on mescaline, then you have an idea what this is about.

The title track gets a couple of remixes that are more peak-hour friendly by Betron Brut and Dactillar, but the original cut, along with Phantom Ambulance’s “Fabulous” really deserve the spotlight here.

Available on Beatport exclusively for now, and then on all the other good shops.

The Love Theme is set to release “Hen & Remi,” the first single from his forthcoming full-length album, How Rude . As the alter-ego of producer and composer Dominic Owen, The Love Theme tells the ongoing tale of love in the digital age.

Supported by a full slate of remixes by artists on the Permanent Damage imprint, “Hen & Remi” is The Love Theme’s most dancefloor-ready track to date. While staying true to the roots of previous material with ska influences and live instrumentation, the new single dials in the resonant basslines and breakbeats of dubstep.

“Hen & Remi” follows up on the success of previous Love Theme singles including “Timbo,” which earned the #1 spot on YouTube in eleven countries, the remixes of “Indian Girl” which featured on Beatport’s dubstep and reggae charts and earned frequent BBC1 radio play, and “Boogaloo,” supported by Rob Da Bank, Nihal, Jonathan Moore and more.

The Love Theme Hen & Remi

The single release includes several dubstep remixes including Unsub’s worldy sounding remix, Cottonmouth’s high energy dancefloor banger, Jonah K’s characteristically dark and heady mix, a quirky interpretation by FJH (which was the winning entry in a Permanent Damage remix contest), and the larger-than-life Delph Project version. Rounding out the package, The Gunja Brothers add a smokey reggae mix, and Dominic Owen returns to his hiphop roots with a classic old school mix.

Cottonmouth’s newest release is out, and it’s turning heads and splitting souls. Tubular Bass, the dubstep producer’s fourth release on Permanent Damage Records.

Tubular Bass heralds the next phase of the up-and-coming dubstep producer’s career, with savvy arrangements, ear piercing synths, and a raw, almost punk rock attitude that will appeal to fans of Rusko, Benga, and Flux Pavilion.

“’Tubular Bass’ is my vision of Michael Oldfield’s classic, ‘Tubular Bells’, and ‘Packapunch’ is a jazzy number with some added crunch,” Cottonmouth says of his latest release.

After earning radio play and support from the likes of Kissy Sellout, Detroit Grand Pubahs, and Subatomic Sound System for his previous releases, Cottonmouth embarked on a world tour in 2011 that includes stops in Brooklyn N.Y., the U.S. West Coast, New Zealand and Australia.

You can get Tubular Bass on Beatport, iTunes, or any other digital store.
